The origin of the
word 'chakra' can be found in Indian Sanskrit and it's literal
meaning is 'wheel'.
The chakras are wheel-like in shape and movement. They have the
appearance of being cone-shaped and come from the front and back
of the body - think of a whirlpool. They are basically funnels
through which we receive cosmic energy and grounding energy, and
through which we inter-relate with everything around us. We do
not just receive through these funnels - we also give out through
them!
Chakras are found
within each level of our aura and therefore affect every part
of our being. When we are balanced and enjoying perfect health,
all of our chakras are flowing evenly and openly, all connecting
with each other and pulsating together to create a unique glowing
aura that resonates fully with everything and everyone. Many people
do not know what it feels like to have this perfect state of health
as their aura has been damaged with rips and tears over the course
of time. Energy work such as Reiki, Karuna and Sekhem healing
is all about learning how to work with these chakras and how to
heal the damaged areas.
As we mature and
our chakras develop, each one represents the psychological patterns
that are evolving in our lives. We tend to react to unpleasant
experiences by blocking our feelings which then stops the natural
energy flow, for example, when we experience pain and disappointment
when trying to show love to someone, our reaction to the rejection
might be to try to stop the inner feelings of love - in order
to do this, we block the energy flow [ the unconditional love]
to the heart chakra. Over a period of time we become bitter and
angry which can affect our health and state of mind in the long
term. As the chakras spin simultaneously, the chakras on either
side of the heart chakra will become unbalanced. So you find that
the heart chakra is blocked because the person has stopped all
feelings of unconditional love because of the fear of rejection,
which leads to a blockage in the solar plexus and a sense of feeling
powerless in the situation, and the throat chakra becomes blocked
as the person feels misunderstand and unable to express verbally
how he or she really feels.
These ancient energy
systems have been acknowledged and studied for thousands of years
and we are dealing with a much-researched concept. Many years
ago the chakras were treated with a deep reverence and treated
as a highly complex yet mystical phenomenon which was treated
as profound secret knowledge passed on to students by their teachers.
There is a vast amount of out there knowledge relating to the
chakra system so I have given you two charts which you can print
out clearly and which covers just about everything that you'll
need to know for healing - emotionally and physically !
